Area Still Recovering From Sunday’s Severe Storms

The severe storms that rolled through Clinton County Sunday caused a lot of damage in Frankfort and Clinton County.

Utility Service Board Wastewater Services Director Mike Beck said the wastewater treatment plant was hit by lightning which caused telemetry and communications to be knocked out. Also, the radio tower there received “a wicked strike”, according to Beck.

City, Light and Power Superintendent Mike Myers said there was some wind damage in the area. However, they lost eight poles and two transformers which provide electricity.

A lot of the city and county offices were left without Internet due to the storm and some places still do have that service.

WILO-AM and FM was knocked off the air late Sunday morning and both returned to the air late Sunday night and early Monday morning, respectively. In addition, phones which allow the station to put individuals and guests on the air was knocked out and is in the process of being fixed.
