Arrest Made In Abby And Libby Murder Investigation

A press conference this (Monday) morning confirmed what anonymous sources said over the weekend concerning the 2017 murders of Abby Williams and Liberty German.  Carroll County prosecutor Nick McLeland announced Richard Allen of Delphi was arrested and charged Friday with two counts of murder in connection with the case. The probable cause affidavit is sealed, and McLeland said “today is not that day”  to release details as to what role Allen played in the girls’ deaths. A pre-trial hearing has been set for January 13th and a tentative trial date is scheduled for March 20th 2023 at 9 am.

“While I know all of you were expecting final details today of this arrest, today is not that day. Today is not that day,” Superintendent of the Indiana State Police Doug Carter. “This investigation is far from complete. We will not jeopardize its (the case) integrity by releasing or discussing documents or information before the appropriate time.”

On February 13, 2017, Abigail Williams and Liberty German were tragically murdered while visiting the Monon High Bridge in Delphi. Shortly after, the Indiana State Police and Carroll County Sheriff’s office created the Delphi Double Homicide Task Force, which encompassed federal, state and local law enforcement agencies. That date marks 2,086 days since the girls were found murdered on the trail.

On Wednesday, October 26, detective with the Delphi Double Homicide Task Force, took Allen, 50, from Delphi into custody at the Indiana State Lafayette Post for the murders of Abby and Libby.

On Friday, October 28. Allen was formally charged with two counts of murder and transported to the White County Jail, where he is currently being held without bond.
