Arrest Yields Drugs, Guns and $40k

On Friday, a WMPD Officer conducted a traffic stop on a blue Alpha Romero for following too closely and speeding (80 mph in a 55 mph zone) on Interstate 65 Northbound. Upon contacting the driver, later identified as Sheldon Williams (25) of Chicago, the officer detected an odor of marijuana
emitting from the vehicle.

Following a brief field investigation and a probable cause vehicle search, WMPD Officers located: 2 Glock semiautomatic handguns, 30 ounces of marijuana, plastic baggies and measuring scales, 4 cellular phones, $41,840 in U.S. currency. Officers also located a conversion device that would turn the semiautomatic handguns fully automatic.

Williams was transported to the Boone County Jail, where he is being held pending recommended charges of: Possession of an Automatic Weapon, Possession and Dealing of Marijuana, and Possession of firearms without a license.
