Aunt Ruth Dommestrup wants the community to know that she is at Hoops Restaurant from 3-7 p.m. Thursdays and Fridays selling $1 birthday cards for veterans. She is also a major part of the Christmas in July celebration for the veterans.
Aunt Ruth also wants the community to know of the Indiana Veterans Home wish list for this year. Long-term project items include a Fourth of July Fireworks Sponsor for $5,000. Resident requests include new recliners, pleather, new lift chairs, pleather and Walmart gift cards.
Bathroom items needed include lotion, shampoo, lip stick, cologne (alcohol free only), shaving cream, after shave (alcohol free only) and perfume (alcohol free only).
Activities items in need are Amazon TV fire box, soft snack cakes (Little Debbie), cheese and crackers/peanut butter and crackers, little candy bars, storage containers or small cabinets, electric razors, glue/construction paper all colors, velvet pictures with markers, linen handkerchiefs, bandanas, wash clothes, hand towels (for folding), baby dolls and stuffed animals, memory games and craft kits (wooden).
Miscellaneous items on the list are Sea Bond denture pads, cake mix, phone cards, stamps, money in trust, fruit, and snacks (soft cakes, pies, Little Debbie).
Needed clothes are sweat pants large to 5X, t-shirts 2X-4X, diabetic socks, men’s boxer briefs 5X, women’s underwear 9-14, men’s basketball shorts medium-5X, pocket T-shirts 4X and men’s pajama pants 5X.
Music and memory items include iTunes gift cards, Ipods and Bluetooth speakers.
