Barbara Kay DeMumbrum

Barbara Kay DeMumbrum, 72, of Marshall, IL passed away February 14, 2022 in Champaign, IL. Barbara was born on June 25, 1949 at Crawfordsville, IN to Samuel and Mae DeMumbrum. She was preceded in death by her father, Samuel DeMumbrum and her mother, Mae Thompson DeMumbrum and brothers –in-law, Samuel Speros, Loren Minick and Dean Hughes; a sister, Mary Minich and sister-in-law, Nancy DeMumbrum. Surviving are her daughter, Michele DeMumbrum McIntosh (Mark); grandson, Xavier and granddaughter, Ashton; her sisters, Shelby Hughes, Betty Speros, Carol (Harold) Lacy; her brothers, Glenn (Dianna) DeMumbrum and Edward DeMumbrum; seventeen nieces and nephews and way too many great nieces and nephews to count at this time. Barbara was fierce in her love for her family and incredibly close to her nieces and nephews. There wasn’t anything she wouldn’t do for them; from cheering them on at athletic games to counseling them in matters of the heart along when engaging in various shenanigans with them and their friends throughout the years. While she only gave birth to one child, she mothered many other kids through her 37 years of in home daycare. She had been at it for so long that she had been blessed with caring for multiple generations-treating them all as family. With all of that being said, there was nothing in this world that she loved more than spending time with her grandson, Xavier. He truly was her pride and joy; she loved him to the moon and back. Barbara was a member of the Marshall Missionary Baptist Church where she had previously been a Sunday School Teacher. She was an avid reader, loved watching Hallmark and Lifetime Movies and playing computer games. Services in honor of her life will be 11:00 AM Monday, Feb. 21st at Pearce Funeral Home at Marshall, IL with Bro. Gene Ellis officiating. Burial will be in the Marshall Cemetery.
