Bartley Named New Frankfort Clerk-Treasurer at Caucus

Clinton County Treasurer Carol Bartley, right, talks with Clinton County Republican Party Chairman Jim Moyer about her new Clerk-Treasurer position with the City of Frankfort.

Clinton County Treasurer Carol Bartley won the Republican Party Caucus for the City of Frankfort Clerk-Treasurer position Thursday. Bartley garnered 14 of the 16 possible votes to defeat Utility Service Board Auditor and Secretary Andrew Day and Catherine Hale.

Bartley, who has been the county treasurer for five-and-a-half years, was asked why she decided to go after the position formerly held by now-Mayor Judy Sheets.

“One of the main reasons is that the county job that I currently have is term limited and this job allows multiple terms,” said Bartley. “Eventually, I wasn’t going to be able to have the county treasurer position anymore. So, when this job opened, I thought this was good opportunity for me to transition.

Bartley will resign her position Friday and assume her new post on Monday.

Bartley is currently on the primary election ballot for the county treasurer post in May.

Clinton County Republican Party Chairman Jim Moyer said another caucus will be held at a later date to name a replacement for Bartley.
