Inside INdiana Business is reporting that Hamilton County-based Beck’s Hybrids says it will pump more than $60 million into expanding operations at its Atlanta headquarters. The company expects its planned new soybean processing facility to be complete by 2022. Beck’s says the expansion, which will double processing capacity, will result in about 60 new jobs.
The new facility will include a seven-story, stand-alone processing tower, five new warehouses, office space and storage space. Beck’s says the expansion will double its processing capacity from three million to six million units per year over the next six years. The retail seed company serves farmers in eleven states. It says the number of units of corn and soybeans the company has sold to farmers has doubled over the last six-and-a-half years.
“Indiana is an easy state to do business in,” said Beck’s Chief Executive Officer Sonny Beck. “And because of that, we decided to build here in our home state. The foresight of the Indiana Economic Development Corporation and Hamilton County officials to upgrade the roadways near our plant will allow us to double the soybean capacity at our headquarters without increasing traffic congestion and to improve safety. Not only will this increase capacity and add jobs here in Indiana, it will allow us to better serve the needs of all our customers throughout our 11-state marketing area.”
