Bernard “Bernie” O. Goodnight, 79, of Mulberry, passed away August 15, 2023, at his home in Mulberry, surrounded by his family, following a brief illness.
He was born March 8, 1944, in Lafayette, to Z. Ralph and Edith A. (Deitrich) Goodnight. On May 18, 1962, he married Sandra Kay Troxel at the Mulberry United Methodist Church; she passed away on September 20, 2022.
Bernie worked for ADM in Frankfort for 34 years where he had been a member of the Bakery, Confectionery, Tobacco Workers and Grain Millers International Union. Bernie enjoyed hunting, fishing, mushroom hunting, spending time with family, and sitting on the porch drinking coffee.
Bernie is survived by his son, Mark L. (Tina) Goodnight of Frankfort; daughter, Dr. Tracie M. (Ryan) Egger of Delphi; grandson, Clayton L. Goodnight; sister, Claudia W. Timmons of Mulberry; and a sister-in-law, Isabel Goodnight of Rossville.
In addition to his parents and wife, Bernie is preceded in death by a brother, Ralph Danny Goodnight;’ and a brother-in-law, Carl Timmons.
Visitation will be Sunday, August 20, beginning at 1:00 p.m. until the start of the funeral service at 3:30 p.m. at Genda Funeral Home ~ Mulberry Chapel. Pastor Todd Ladd will officiate the service, and burial will follow in Fair Haven Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Clinton County 4-H 1111 S. Jackson St. Frankfort, IN 46041.
