Betty Hysel, 89, went to her Heavenly home on May 2, 2022, surrounded by her family in Wesley Manor Health Care Pavilion.
Born April 18, 1933, in Springfield, Illinois, Betty was the daughter of George and Elvora (Cherry) Matheis. She attended Feitshans High School in Springfield, and in 1970, she received her RN degree from Illinois Central College.
Betty and Jack Hysel married, in Springfield, Illinois, on December 2, 1950, and shared his life in the ministry, as well as her work as an RN until her retirement in 1990. She was a member of Frankfort Bible Holiness Church in Frankfort. Betty enjoyed stained glass, reading, being on the computer, and spending time with her family and friends.
Surviving Betty are her two daughters, Betty (Reed) Cooper of Frankfort, and Jacqueline (Jerry) Kwasigroh of Kirklin; grandchildren, Jerry (Janiece) Cooper, Alan (Janelle) Cooper, Elizabeth (Tony) Banes, Jessica (Darin) Lipp, and Jonathan Kwasigroh; 22 great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; brothers, James (Nancy) Matheis of Peoria, Illinois, John (Marlene) Matheis of Springfield, Illinois, and Bill (Elsie) Walters of Decatur, Illinois; and sister, Patricia (Bob) Bennett of Harrison, Missouri.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
Visitation will be on Thursday, May 5, 2022, from 5pm to 7pm and on Friday from 9am to 10am, at Genda Funeral Home in Frankfort. Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 6, 2022 at 10am, at Genda Funeral Home, with Dr. David Fry officiating. Burial will follow in the Bunnell Cemetery.
