Betty J. Pipes, 95, of Frankfort, passed away on Monday, September 23, 2019, at IU Health Frankfort Hospital. She was born June 9, 1924, in Thorntown, to William and Dorothy (Anderson) Siebert. In 1943, she married Isaac Junior Pipes in Lebanon; he preceded her in death on January 14, 2007.
In 1943, Betty graduated from Colfax High School. Betty was a full-time wife, mother, and homemaker and had worked alongside her husband in his janitorial business as well. She had worked with the Salvation Army in Port Arthur and Beaumont, Texas. Betty always put her family first and loved it when it brought new babies for her to love.
Surviving Betty are her children, William (Sandy) Pipes, of Willits, CA, and Norman Pipes, Patricia Pipes, and Carol (Joey) Hoosier, all of Frankfort; 12 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, four great, great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, Betty is preceded in death by her son, Jerry Lee Pipes; grandson, Christopher Pipes; and sisters, Doris Hendrix, Ruth Sexton, and Grace Virtue.
Family, friend, and other whose lives that were touched by Betty are invited to gather on Saturday, September 28, 2019 at Genda Funeral Home in Frankfort for visitation from 10:00 a.m. to the start of the funeral service at noon. Lt. Aaron Johnson of the Lafayette Salvation Army will officiate. Burial will follow in Plainview Cemetery in Colfax. Memorials in Betty’s name may be made to SalvationArmy.org.
