Betty Lois Siekman, 96, Mulberry, passed away Saturday, July 8, 2023, at Mulberry Health. She was born on September 21, 1926, in Rising Sun, Indiana, to Myrle and Hazel (Botts) Bunger. She married Roy Charles Siekman on September 7, 1946, and he preceded her in death on July 18, 2005.
Betty was a 1943 graduate of Rising Sun High School. She worked as a secretary at Rising Sun High School, Purdue University and Clinton Prairie High School. She and her husband moved to Colfax in 1961, then lived in Jefferson from 1964 until they moved to Mulberry in 1999. Betty was a member of Trinity Church of Mulberry, Trinity Women’s Guild, Mulberry Community Club and participated in water therapy at Wesley Manor. She enjoyed doing puzzles, organizing picture albums, gardening, canning, and singing in the church choir but more importantly, Betty enjoyed spending time with her family.
Betty is survived by her children, Kenneth (Bonny) Siekman and Carol (Denny) Wainscott; grandchildren, Jennifer (David) Fletcher, Mark (Kelly) Siekman, Nicholas (Lauri) Wainscott and Andrew (Raimie) Wainscott; and great grandchildren, Riley Fletcher, William Fletcher, Taryn Wainscott, Kylie Wainscott, Edwin Wainscott, Larkin Fletcher, Jackson Siekman, Evie Siekman, Wesley Wainscott, Drew Wainscott, and Zachary Wainscott.
Along with her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Lawrence Bunger; and a sister, Myra Evelyn White.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, July 12, 2023, from 10am until the time of the service at 12pm at Trinity Church of Mulberry. Pastor Phil Whisler will officiate. Burial will follow at Fair Haven Cemetery. Day & Genda Funeral Home ~ Mulberry Chapel is assisting with the service arrangements.
