Betty Lou VanArsdell

Betty Lou VanArsdell, 94, of Walton, passed away on Wednesday, July 25, 2018, at her home.  She was born March 26, 1924, in Frankfort, to Charles D. and Grace (Skaggs) Moore.  On January 29, 1948, she married William VanArsdell in Frankfort; he preceded her in death on December 21, 2011.

Betty was a member of the Frankfort High School Class of 1942.  She had worked as a telephone operator at Indiana Bell in Frankfort before moving to Walton in 1972.  Throughout her life, Betty was a homemaker and mother to many; she also worked in the cafeteria at Thompson Elementary for several years.  Betty was a member of First Christian Church and Walton American Legion Auxiliary.  She enjoyed quilting, sewing, solving crossword puzzles, and watching her beloved Cubs baseball.

Surviving Betty are her daughters, Kimberley VanArsdell, of Crawfordsville, Stepheni (Randy) Looper, of Parker, CO, and Abby VanArsdell, of Walton; sister, Judy Shanks, of Frankfort; and two granddaughters, Carly Looper an Kaitlyn Looper.  In addition to her husband, Betty is preceded in death by her sister, Sue Shaffer.

A gathering of family and friends will be held on Tuesday, July 31, 2018, at Genda Funeral Home in Frankfort, from 3:00 p.m. to the start of the memorial service in her honor at 4:00 p.m.  Inurnment will follow in Bunnell Cemetery.  Memorials in Betty’s name may be made to the American Heart Association or Cass County Humane Society.  Online condolences may be directed to www.gendafuneralhome.com.
