Big Second Half Carries Hot Dogs Past Southmont 40-22

Frankfort scored 34 unanswered points in the second half to roll past Southmont 40-22 in a Sagamore Conference football game Friday night in Frankfort.

With the tied 6-6 at half, the Hot Dogs, now 2-2, used an explosive offense in the second half and a defense that shut down the Mounties after giving up a touchdown on the opening possession of the game until the JV went into the game in the fourth quarter.

Riley Goodnight led the rushing attack with 187 yards on 22 carries and three touchdowns. Sam Michael threw for 143 yards and two touchdown, while Jade Ayers had eight receptions for 118 yards and a touchdown. Cam Swinford added a touchdown catch as well.

Defensively, the Hot Dogs were led Reece Mitchell with 18 tackles. Vlad Carreas Lantigua was next with 16 tackles and a blocked PAT and Gabe Chavez added 13 tackles and an interception. Bryce McDonald also had an interception for the Hot Dogs.

Frankfort was originally scheduled to travel to Lebanon Friday night. However, that game has been cancelled because of a COVID outbreak on the Lebanon football team. So, the Hot Dogs are traveling to LaPorte County Saturday night to face South Central. The Satellites are 2-2 this season. Game time is 8 p.m. Eastern time, and 7 p.m. Central.

Clinton Central Tops Frontier

Anthony Ransford scored four touchdowns to lead Clinton Central to a 44-38 victory over previously unbeaten Frontier Saturday night in Michigantown.

This was the Bulldogs’ first game in two weeks following a quarantine. Central, 2-0, hosts Taylor Friday night in Michigantown. Game time is 7 p.m.

Ransford now has six touchdowns in two games this season. He has also rushed for 287 yards on 28 carries which is a 10.3 yards per carry.

Rossville Wins Clinton County XC Titles

Rossville captured both the boys’ and girls’ championship in the Clinton County meet held Saturday at Camp Cullom. The Hornets won the boys’ title with 26 points and the girls’ crown with 27 points. Frankfort was second in both events.

Frankfort’s Sydney Cesare shot an 88 and finished fourth overall at the Sagamore Conference meet Saturday. She also earned all-conference honors.

Medalist — Ella Taylor (Lebanon) 82.

Central Second in HHC Girls’ Golf

Clinton Central took second in the Hoosier Heartland Conference meet Saturday. Central finished with 417, six strokes behind team champion Rossville at 411.
