Big Second Half Lifts Clinton Central to 3-0 Start With Win over Fountain Central

The Clinton Central girls’ basketball team improved to 3-0 Tuesday night with a 60-38 victory over Fountain Central in Michigantown.

Leading 27-22 at halftime, the Bulldogs outscored Fountain Central 33-16 to win going away.

Sara Parkison led Central in scoring with 19 points. Carly Davison and Erika Robbins each added 14 and Kortney Surber had eight.

On Saturday, Central jumped out to a 23-2 lead after one quarter and hung on for a 47-42 road victory over Southmont.

Parkison led the Bulldogs with 13 points. Robbins had 11 and Davison added 10.

The win marked the 250th career win for head coach Don Helmick.

Last Thursday, Central opened the season with a 48-4 victory on the road against Frontier.

Central gave up four points in the first quarter en route to a 19-4 lead. The Bulldogs then held Frontier scoreless over the final three quarters.

Parkison  led Central with 22 points. Davison added 17.

Rossville Basketball

Western Boone used a big first quarter and third quarter on its way to a 61-45 victory over Rossville Tuesday night.

The Stars led 17-9 after a quarter and outscored the Hornets 21-12 to expand on a seven-point halftime lead.

Ava Burkle led Rossville with 23 points and nine rebounds. Addi Gobett also reached double figures with 11 points and Chloe Darnell had eight.

On Saturday, Burkle and Gobett combined for 49 points as Rossville downed Faith Christian 63-60. Burkle had 28 points and eight rebounds, while Gobett added 21 points and six rebounds. Allie Elliott led the team in rebounds with nine and Cortney Hoffman added eight boards.

Last Thursday, Burkle had 22 points and Elliott added 10 in a season-opening 42-37 loss to Delphi.

Frankfort Basketball

Frankfort forced 31 turnovers and had 19 steals but came up short in a 52-37 to Elwood Tuesday night in Elwood.

Ella McAtee led the Lady Hot Dogs with 11 points and Ashely Vasquez-Rivera added nine points and five steals. Evelyn Vasquez-Bautista had a team-high seven rebounds for FHS.

On Saturday, Fountain Central raced out to a 19-7 lead after one quarter on its way to a 40-22 victory over Frankfort.

McAtee led Frankfort in scoring with nine, Saira Flores had eight points and a team-high eight rebounds.

On Wednesday in Flora, Frankfort opened its season with a 67-17 loss to Carroll.

Vasquez-Rivera led FHS with seven points.
