Billy Birge was named the new head wrestling coach at Frankfort High School yesterday.
“Frankfort High School is excited to announce Billy Birge as our new Head Coach for our Hot Dogs Wrestling program,” the school posted. “Coach Birge brings a lot of knowledge to our program. His ability to lead with confidence on the mat and overcome adversity provides him with valuable skills for this new role.”
Birge, a 1995 Frankfort graduate, was a successful wrestler in his time with the Hot Dogs. Birge finished 8th at the 1995 State Championship and finished with a 110-20 record according to IndianaMat.com.
The Hot Dogs placed 8th as a team at the Frankfort Sectional this year.
Frankfort has not won a Sectional Championship in wrestling since 2001-2002.
