In an attempt to slow down traffic in an alley near downtown, the Board of Works approved a request for two stop signs and some speed bumps near Goodwin Funeral Home and the former Good to Go gas station which is now Amoco.
“Between Walnut and Wabash, we’ve had some issues with cars just speeding up and down that alleyway,” said Frankfort Street Superintendent Jason Forsythe. “Obviously with all the traffic for Good to Go and Goodwin Funeral Home when they have funerals going on, we just want to keep everyone safe.
“We’re going to put up some new speed bumps and a couple of new stop signs there at each corner — one by Goodwin’s garage and the other one on the other side near the actual funeral business and Good to Go.”
Forsythe said it would take a couple of weeks to get the speed bumps. He added the speed limit is 15 miles an hour.
In other news, the Board of Works approved May 15 as the date for Healthy Communities’ Stepping on Stigma 5K Run at TPA Park.
