Board of Works Terminates Consulting Contract for Sheets

This is a rendering of what Prairie Creek Park will look like in downtown Frankfort.

The Board of Works officially ended the consulting contract of former Frankfort Parks Superintendent Travis Sheets Monday night. The vote was unanimous.

“We terminated his contract effective May 31 of this year,” said Frankfort Mayor Judy Sheets. “He is going to still work with us on getting some of the landscaping done and anything else that we need.”

Mayor Sheets said the project at Prairie Creek Park should be pretty much done by the end of May and with the postponement of the Aquatic Center until a later date, she and the Board of Works felt this was a good decision to make right now.

“He was very good with this,” said Mayor Sheets. “He said he would offer services of his that we needed after the contract is over.”

At the beginning of the year, the Board of Works approved an 18-month contract with Sheets to help with Prairie Creek Park and the Aquatic Center at $4,250 a month or $75,000 over the entire length of the contract.

The opening of the park has been delayed because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
