Boone County Medicine Collection Bins Aid With The Safe Disposal Of Unused & Expired Meds

Three Boone County departments have issued a reminder to the community regarding their medicine collection bin may be utilized throughout the year to dispose of prescription medicine and other medications, whether unused or expired, outside of the Drug Takeback Days hosted by the Indiana State Police and local organizations.

The medicine collection bin may be utilized to safely dispose of prescription medications, over-the-counter medications, vitamins, liquids and patches and pet medications that are unused or expired to ensure that they are disposed of effectively and efficiently.

Items not accepted are needles, syringes and sharps, industrial or business waste, bloody or infectious waste or mercury items.

For needle, syringe or sharps disposal, community members may contact the Boone County Health Department at 765-483-4458. For mercury items, community members may contact Boone County Solid Waste at 765-483-0687.

The Boone County medicine collection bins may be accepted at the entrance of the Whitestown Police Department at 6210 S. 700 E. in Whitestown, the Zionsville Police Department at 1075 Parkway Dr. in Zionsville or the Boone County Jail Lobby at 1905 Indianapolis Ave. in Lebanon.
