Boone County Sheriffs Investigating Two Fatal Accidents

At approximately 11:36 a.m. Friday, Deputies from the Boone County Sheriff’s Office and Lebanon Police Department were dispatched to the address 132 Ulen Boulevard, Lebanon, Indiana for a vehicle into a tree.
A 2008 silver Lincoln MKA driven by Samantha D. Vickery 50, of Lebanon, was northbound on Ulen Boulevard in the 100 block. The vehicle left the roadway, struck a tree and caught on fire prior to law enforcement arrival. Responding law enforcement removed Samantha from the passenger side window after using force to break the glass. Vickery was unresponsive to CPR and AED administered on scene prior to Medics and Fire departments arrival. VIckrey was transported by ambulance to Witham Hospital and later pronounced deceased.
Lebanon Officer and Boone County Sheriff’s Deputy were treated for smoke inhalation and released by Witham Hospital.
At approximately 11:45 a.m. Friday, Deputies from the Boone County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to Interstate 74 at the 50 Mile Marker for a single vehicle accident.
A 2013 Chevrolet Silverado, driven by Helmut J. Hein, 65, of Rex, Georgia was east bound on Interstate 74 near the 50 mile marker in Boone County. For unknown reasons, the vehicle exited the roadway into the side ditch, continuing in the ditch, and striking a tree. The driver was extricated from the vehicle by Jamestown Fire Department personnel. Witham Hospital EMS medical personnel and Jamestown Fire Department personnel tried unsuccessfully to resuscitate Hein, and he was declared dead at the scene by the medical personnel.
Both crashes are under investigation by the Boone County Fatal Alcohol Crash Team. At this time, drugs or Alcohol are not believed to be involved
