Gina Brettnacher has been in the Clinton County Treasurer’s office serving as First Deputy for the past four years. On Saturday, she officially became the Clinton County Treasurer on the first ballot of a Clinton County Republican Party caucus held at the Neighborhood Center by defeating Ted Harris of Kirklin to gain the nomination.

“It feels really good to be actually named Treasurer of Clinton County,” said Brettnacher. “It’s been kind of nerve wrecking the past two months.”

Brettnacher had been the First Deputy under former Treasurer Carol Bartley for four years. Bartley resigned earlier this year when she became the City Clerk-Treasurer for the City of Frankfort when then City Clerk-Treasurer Judy Sheets was named Frankfort Mayor.

“I think people realize that Gina has been doing this job for four years as the First Deputy,” said Clinton County Republican Party Chairman Jim Moyer. “They thought she was qualified and I think we’ve got ourselves a good treasurer.”

Brettnacher will now go on the ballot in November as the Republican Party candidate for County Treasurer.

Brettnacher was asked about how much of a help Bartley has been.

“Carol has been a tremendous help,” said Brettnacher. “She has been a real guidance. I intended on running in 2024 but it just got bumped up to now.”

Brettnacher added the experience she got while in the Treasurer’s Office will help tremendously.

“The four years of on-the-job training led me to be able to to learn how to run the day-to-day operations of the business,” said Brettnacher, who will be sworn in Monday morning.
