Brian Buchanan of Boone County was named Thursday night to fill former State Senator’s Brandt Hershman’s District 7 seat a Republican caucus held in Monticello.
Buchanan was chosen from a field of six candidates, including Arthur Anderson, Ed Cripe, Stephen Jordan, Shelli Maxwell and Arvid Olson. Cripe is the assistant fire chief in Frankfort and was a former Clinton County Coroner.
Buchanan lives in northern Boone County and works for a family trucking business. He also serves on the Boone County Council.
Hershman retired from District 7 on January 2. He now works for the Barnes and Thornburg law firm as a practicing attorney in Washington D.C.
