Buchanan Receives Perfect Voting Record Recognition

BRIAN BUCHANAN

State Sen. Brian Buchanan (R-Lebanon) was recently recognized by the Indiana Family Institute (IFI) for having a 100% voting record on their Legislative Scorecard during the 2019 legislative session.

The IFI is a statewide organization focused on promoting pro-family values and policies, and annually scores state legislators on priority legislation.

“I’m honored to be recognized by the Indiana Family Institute for my work to support and promote conservative, pro-family legislation in the State Senate,” said Buchanan. “Representing the values of Senate District 7 is my number one priority, and I will continue to do so in the years ahead. I thank IFI and their members for their continued advocacy toward our shared goals.”

One of the bills that influenced the IFI’s scores was Senate Enrolled Act 132, which Buchanan co-authored. This legislation encourages civics education in Indiana public schools by requiring schools to administer the standardized immigration and naturalization citizenship test to all high school students.

“This session, Sen. Buchanan stood strong for faith, family and freedom. It’s one thing to campaign on these issues. It’s another to go to Indianapolis and cast your vote. We are very proud of Sen. Buchanan for standing firm and representing Hoosier families well,” said IFI Executive Director Ryan McCann.
