Burlington Fall Festival Prince & Princess Contest Set for September 27

The Burlington Fall Festival Prince & Princess Contest will take place Sunday, September 27, at the Community Building at Burlington Park.

This year’s contest theme is “At the Movies,” giving contestants an opportunity to show their creativity and personality through movie-inspired attire.

Interviews will begin at 1 p.m. and will give judges an opportunity to get to know each contestant before the stage portion of the contest. Contestants should wear a casual outfit for the interviews.

The Prince & Princess Contest will begin at 3:30 p.m. Contestants will first wear a movie-themed outfit, which may include dressing as a movie director, favorite movie character, movie star or another movie-inspired idea. Traditional Halloween costumes and princess dresses should not be worn, as this is not a Halloween costume contest.

Contestants will then change into formal attire for the next portion of the contest. Girls may wear a formal dress, while boys may wear a suit, dress pants and dress shirt, or another appropriate formal outfit.

Applications must be completed and submitted by Friday, September 18. Completed applications should be emailed to Shelly Wiles at wrob566@sbcglobal.net.

A mandatory contestant meeting will be held Monday, September 21, at 6 p.m. at the Community Building at Burlington Park. All contestants and a parent or guardian are required to attend. Important information about the contest and procedures will be discussed.

The contest will also include a Community Service Award. Contestants are encouraged to decorate a collection can and begin collecting money throughout the community. The contestant who collects the most money will receive the award during the Prince & Princess Contest.

All money raised will be donated back to the Burlington community to help cover the costs of the Burlington Fall Festival and the community’s Fourth of July fireworks.

Contestants are encouraged to decorate their collection cans and begin collecting donations as soon as possible.
