On Tuesday, June 30, 2026, the Red Barn Summer Theatre is offering a class for kids interested in learning more about theatre. It is not necessary to have any theatre experience, only a curiosity about what theatre is all about.
There will be two 3-hour sessions. From 8-11 am, kids 7-10 yrs old will have a chance to learn various parts of theatre from teacher, director, actress & one of our favorite people, Julie (Doan) Baumann. The afternoon session from 12-3 pm will be for students 11-14 yrs.
This is how it works: each child will choose one technique that sounds interesting to them from a MENU of skills used in theatre, such as costumes, auditioning, improvisation, character building, scene building, musical theatre & theatre design. It does not matter if you choose the same menu item as someone else; you will learn all kinds of theatre ‘things’ and have a good time doing it.
There will be a tour of the Red Barn Theatre and scene shop, and a chance to meet the actors and actresses who are performing at the barn this summer.
The cost for this workshop is $10, and the maximum class size is 12 students.
Parents can enroll students for Kid’s Theatre Cafe beginning on Sunday, May 31st from 4 pm -7 pm at the Summer Kick-off. If there are still openings for the Theatre Café, sign-up will continue on June 3rd 5 pm -9 pm at the Box Office.
