Hay rides, walks on the trails, disc golf, chili, hot dogs, chips, brownies, stars at Prairie Grass Observatory, silent auction, seeing old friends…it’s all part of the annual Chili Supper at Camp Cullom.
This year, for the first time, Camp Cullom is partnering with Edward Jones for this annual event.
Camp Cullom is a 90 acre Camp owned by the Children of Clinton County. Camp Cullom’s attendance is up by over 5,000 visitors this year compared to last year, according to a board of directors report from Camp Ranger, Hoppy Bray. Astronomers from Muncie and other areas will be visiting the camp through out this week to enjoy the Camp’s dark skies and beautiful fall colors as weather permits. The Chili dinner celebrates the crisp fall weather with fall foliage at its peak.
The Camp is open all day as usual, giving families plenty of time to walk the trails, play disc golf and enjoy the fall colors. The Chili Dinner begins at 4:30 and remains open til 7:00 pm. At dusk, weather permitting, Camp Cullom’s Prairie Grass Observatory will show off star clusters, planets, consolations, meteorites, space videos and more.
Proceeds from the “all you can eat” Chili Dinner help support the Camp. The Camp has received permission from United Way for Clinton County to hold the Chili Dinner in October because of the unique timing of the fall foliage and superior Astronomy viewing this time of year.
Don’t be surprised if you see Clinton County Edward Jones agents and team members serving Chili or helping behind the scenes at this annual event. All proceeds benefit the Camp owned by the children of Clinton County.
Friends of Camp Cullom are encouraged to give to the United Way for Clinton County and come to the Camp for the Annual Chili Dinner. A silent auction will be held during the event.
Camp Cullom is located between Frankfort and Mulberry at 6815 W. County Road 200 N. in Clinton County.
