Canada Named New IUK Chancellor

MARK CANADA

IU Kokomo has named Mark Canada chancellor, succeeding Susan Sciame-Giesecke, who served in that capacity for 10 years. His role is effective August 15, pending formal approval by the IU Board of Trustees.

Canada has been IU Kokomo’s deputy chancellor since last July and executive vice chancellor for academic affairs since 2015.

“Mark Canada knows and understands the mission of the regional campuses and has been a champion for student engagement and other important initiatives during his tenure,” said IU President Pamela Whitten. “I am confident he will successfully lead the campus and continue to strengthen relationships across north central Indiana.”

Prior to his positions at IU Kokomo, Canada was dean of the College of Arts and Sciences at the University of North Carolina at Pembroke.

Sciame-Giesecke has been with the IU system for 45 years. She recently began her tenure as IU’s vice president for regional campuses and online education after a decade as chancellor.
