Carroll Cougars Down Clinton Prairie for Sectional 38 Championship

After a tough sectional week for all the (22-4) Carroll Cougars defeated (16-10) Clinton Prairie Gophers Saturday night by the score of 50-36.

Jake McGraw was the only Clinton Prairie player in double figures which hurt the Gophers on the boards. Coming off a win against Lafayette Central Catholic and Delphi it was a physical week for Clinton Prairie.

Jake Mcgraw had 25 points for the team, Cayden Davis 5, Ryan Harshbarger and Layne Horlacher each added 3 points for the Gophers and that was the total scoring for Clinton Prairie. Carroll’s tough defense kept the Gophers from the boards and that really hurt them.

Carroll had three players in double figures, They were Owen Duff with 21 points,Chris Huerta and Jake Skinner each added 10 points. Griffin Viney had 6 points, and Austin Kuns added 3 points to round out the total scoring for the Cougars. Carroll was coming off two wins also in the sectional beating Seeger and Covington.

Carroll will take on the 2A (24-1) Wapahani Raiders next Saturday at Lapel High School. Don and Karl will be there on WILO Radio for the game.

In other sectional play Saturday Rossville was defeated in the championship game by Fountain Central 44-40 in overtime.
Rossville also defeated Faith Christian 56-49 in the earlier game that was scheduled for Friday night but due to weather had to be postponed.
