Carroll County Economic Development Corporation Receives New Census Statistics

The Carroll County Economic Development Corporation has released updated statistics for Carroll County, including information about the population, place, economy, workforce and more for the community to view.

According to the statistics, Carroll County has officially broken the 20,000 threshhold with a population of 20,603 with a growth rate of 2.6% from 2017 through 2023. As well, the corporation released that over 500,000 people are within commuting distance to the county with a median age of 43-years-old. The statistics also showed that 89% of the Carroll County population has a high school degree or higher.

According to the place section of the report, the county has 372 square miles or 238,000 acres with access to the Hoosier Heartland Highway, I-65 and more, including two rail lines. As well, the median family income is %57,019 with a cost of living index of 85.9, where the United States average is 100.

According to the statistics, the workforce has shown 9,497 employed in the local labor force with an unemployment rate of 3.1% as of January 2023. The metropolitan statistical area was reported as 248,791 based on the labor pool within a 35-mile radius.

The largest city populations in Carroll County are Delphi with 2,972, Flora with 2,110, Camden with 596 and Burlington with 522.

The largest industries by employment were reported as goods and processing, manufacturing, transportation and utilities and hospitality.
