Carroll County Sheriff’s Office Constructs Kennel To Help Animal Control Contain Stray Dogs

The Carroll County Sheriff’s Office has released information regarding a three run kennel that was delivered for the use of the department in detaining stray dogs while waiting for owners to retrieve their pets.

Once completely constructed, the kennel will be able to hold three stray dogs for three days per County Ordinance. As well, per the ordinance, a $55 fee will be charged when claiming a dog.

The department stated that finishing touches will be in place soon, and the department strives to have the kennel up and running in the near future.

“Not that this will be the ‘fix all’ for animal control, but it is a good start,” Sheriff Tony Liggett released. “It has been a struggle to find anywhere accepting dogs, leaving our hands tied with animal control responses and solutions.”

The kennel will allow for dogs to be held in a safe environment during circumstances where Erica’s Rescues and Humane Society is full.
