Carroll E. Henderson

Carroll E. Henderson, 83, of Kokomo, Ind., died December 16, 2019 at Wesley Manor.  He was born January 19, 1936 in Frankfort, Ind. to the late Clyde Elden & Ruth Vivian (Walker) Henderson.  He met the love of his life, Phyllis Ann Dearth on a Greyhound bus trip from Frankfort to Purdue in Lafayette.  About 2 years later they were married at the Evangelical United Brethren Church in Frankfort on August 26, 1956 and she survives.

Mr. Henderson was a 1953 graduate of Jackson Township High School, Clinton County and received his Associates Degree from Purdue University.  Carroll worked as a freight agent for the Norfolk & Southern Railroad, retiring on December 10, 1997 after 42 years.  Following retirement, he worked for Kokomo Schools as a media clerk.  He was a member of the Main Street United Methodist Church Kokomo and sang in the choir.  He enjoyed traveling with family, Kokomo Wildkat basketball games, genealogy, ran in mini marathons throughout his life and was a Kokomo High School enthusiast.  Carroll was a loving brother, husband, father and grandfather.  While he devoted his life to his wife of 63 years, he always found a way to encourage anyone with whom he came in contact.  He will be missed by many.

He is survived by his wife, Phyllis Henderson of Frankfort, 2 daughters, Cheryl Elaine (Jeff) Dowden of Noblesville, Michelle Anne Henderson of Linton, sister, Marlene Kay Henderson of Tustin, CA, 2 grandchildren: Justin Henderson (Danielle) Dowden of Noblesville and Lauren Grace Dowden of Nashville, TN, 1 great grandchild due in April.

Funeral Celebration:

 Visitation will be 10:30-11:30 a.m. Saturday, December 21, 2019 at Goodwin Funeral Home, 200 S. Main St., Frankfort.  Funeral celebration will begin at 11:30 at the funeral home.  Burial will be in Bunnell Cemetery.  Memorial donations may be made to Main Street United Methodist Church Kokomo.
