The production follows a group of zany characters who visit the country for a wager, which quickly devolves into a fight for life for one of the protagonists. Through hilarious situations, clever dialogue, intriguing romance and multiple surprise twists, the comedy keeps the audience on their toes while providing a relaxing atmosphere to wind down after a long work week.
When soap opera author Matthew Stoddard pens a screenplay about a terminally ill man who hires a hitman to kill him before discovering he was misdiagnosed, his agent and best friend, Gregory Larson, comments that the plot is implausible, sparking Stoddard to begin his schemes that align with the duo’s propensity for wagers, cons and humor.
Stoddard announces his plans to enact a scenario that follows the outline of his screenplay’s plot to prove the validity of the scenario, much to the dismay of Larson; moreover, Larson quickly realizes his predicament as he discovers his becoming of the main character as Stoddard contacts a gangster to arrange for an incognito hitman to join the group at a dinner party in the country.
Fear builds within Larson as he realizes the circumstances were reality, and he attempts to prove that his health is prosperous to deter the hitman from following through with the plan, despite his lack of a NordicTack physique. With the deadline quickly approaching, Larson must identify the hitman amongst a group of unknown guests to save his own life.
With the aid of Stoddard and his secretary Stacy Kingsley, who serves as the love interest for both Larson and Stoddard, Larson must overcome surprise after surprise to save his life, meanwhile wishing to return to the city or even Bermuda for a delicious meal that was a consequence of a previous wager with less stakes.
Under the direction of Director Brian Nichols, the cast and crew composed of new and seasoned faces for the Center Stage theatre bring a compelling mystery to the cozy, 50-seat venue in Lebanon.
