Charleen Sue Payne, 81, of Frankfort, passed away on December 11, 2022, in Indiana University Arnett Hospital in Lafayette.
Born September 17, 1941, in Wilshire, Ohio, Charleen was the daughter of Glen Reed and Dorothy Bell (Hahn) Frisinger. She graduated from Elwood High School in 1958.
Charleen was a hard-working woman, and her working career included Mallory Controls, Andover Electrics, and Federal Mogul, with retirement in 2005. She loved horses, knitting and crocheting, and spending time with her family.
Charleen is survived by her three sons, Allen Reed Melson (wife, Norma), John C. Melson (wife, Tammy), and Jason Robert Payne (wife, Linda); grandchildren, Jennifer Edens (husband, Joshua), Anthony Melson (wife, Caitlin), Matthew Melson (wife, Libby), and Megan Salem (husband, Ryan); great-grandchildren, Ethan Edens, Abigail Edens, Grace Salem, Kaylee Salem, Atticus Melson, and Sybil Melson; and sisters, Nancy (Goins) Beatty and Rachel (Bright) Hall.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Dorothy (Goins) Ross and Rebecca (Goins) Dellinger.
Visitation will be Thursday, December 15, 2022, from 10:00 a.m. until the beginning of the service at 12:00 p.m. at Genda Funeral Home in Frankfort. Burial will follow at Bunnell Cemetery. Messages of condolence to the family are welcomed at www.gendafuneralhomes.com.
