Christina Slaven

Christina Maria Slaven, 79, of Frankfort, passed away on Friday, February 5, 2021 at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis.  She was born on November 9, 1941 in Taft, Texas to Geronimo Montalvo and Tomasa Alvarado Montalvo.  She married Charles Basil Slaven; he preceded her in death on June 26, 2013.

Christina worked at Wilderness Trailer, Unielectric, and retired from Federal Mogul.  She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Frankfort.  She was always a loving, caring, and compassionate person. She enjoyed gardening, reading, and spending time with her family.

Christina is survived by her son, Arthur Slaven; daughter, Judy (Kurt) Milnes of Bloomfield; sisters, Donisia Cornego and Solia Wertsbaugh; brothers, Geronimo (Linda) Montalvo, Robert Montalvo, and Steve Montalvo; aunt, Janie (Robert) Mosby; five grandchildren, Marla, Emily, Kayla, Robert, and Brett; several great grandchildren, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Along with her husband, she is preceded in death by her step-son, Tim Slaven; and sisters, Vidy Arellanes, Elaine Hornsby, and Mary Lou Lovett.

A funeral mass will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, February 12, 2021 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Frankfort.  Father Paul Cochran will officiate.  Burial will follow at Plainview Cemetery in Colfax.  Genda Funeral Home in Frankfort is entrusted with the arrangements.
