Christine Puckett

Christine Gray Puckett, age 73, of the Rossville community, went to be with the Lord on January 22, 2021 at IU Health Frankfort. Christine was born April 6, 1947 to Leon and Thelma (Wainscott) Gray. Her father preceded her in death.

Christine was a 1965 graduate of Rossville High School. She received a Bachelor’s Degree from Ball State University and a Master’s Degree from Indiana University Kokomo. She married the love of her life, Robert Puckett on June 2, 1968 in Geetingsville. Christine taught kindergarten at Rossville Elementary School from 1969-1975. After raising her two daughters, she started the Rossville Nursery School and taught many generations of students in Rossville and Mulberry. Wherever she went she heard, “Hi, Mrs. Puckett,” from former students and parents of students. She was a beloved teacher of many.

Christine is lovingly remembered by her husband of 52 years, Bob, and her two daughters, Carol (Gunnar) Dishon and Caren Crum of Rossville. She is also tenderly remembered by her grandchildren, Aidan and Soren Dishon, and Caden and Caitlin Crum, her mother Thelma Gray of Rossville, her brother Gary (Vickie Paris) Gray of rural Frankfort, her brother-in-law Sonny (Renita) Puckett of Kokomo, her nieces Nicole (Matt) Weaver of rural Frankfort, Kelley Gray of Lafayette, Christy (Sal) Mendoza of Lafayette, as well as several great nieces and nephews.

Christine was also preceded in death by her sister-in-law Vickie Gray.

Christine was a 33-year member of Oakland Christian Church in Russiaville, where she was a Sunday School teacher and active member of the congregation. She loved being outdoors, playing Euchre weekly with her mom, teasing and joking with her friends, and spoiling her grandkids. But most of all, she enjoyed spending every possible minute with her family. She was a dedicated wife, mother, and nana. She loved helping others, and she will be greatly missed by her loved ones. Comfort is found in knowing she had a relationship with Jesus Christ and has entered her eternal home in heaven.
