Effective January 1, Code Enforcement will move from Old Stoney to the Frankfort Police Department, located at 201 W Washington Street. Building Services Department will remain at Old Stoney.
According to Chief Troy Bacon, “We are excited to welcome Code Enforcement to our team. Having Code Enforcement at the police department will enhance and streamline the city’s efforts to enforce code violations. Collaborating with Code Enforcement will allow for a more informed and strategic approach to locating violations and enforcing city codes. This will help continue our efforts to decrease crime and to improve the quality of life in higher crime areas of the city”.
Mayor Chris McBarnes added, “We are constantly evaluating city operations to ensure that we are delivering the highest level of services possible. Code Enforcement plays a vital role in cleaning up neighborhood blight. This move will enhance our abilities to keep Frankfort clean. The teamwork of our police department and Code Enforcement will help our city’s mission of improving quality of place”.
Code Enforcement Officers will continue to enforce city ordinance violations for nuisance violations, trash and junk, downtown parking and other general quality of life related ordinances as well as assist the Building Services Department with property maintenance issues.
Code Enforcement personnel will be supervised by Captain James Skinner.
