City Of Delphi Welcomes New Community Development Director

Julia Leahy

The City of Delphi announced the appointment of a new Community Development Director who most community members know as the face of the Carroll County Chamber of Commerce.

Delphi Mayor Kamron Yates announced the appointment of Julia Leahy as the new Community Development Director for the City of Delphi. Leahy was noted for her wealth of experience and deep commitment to fostering sustainable growth, enhancing community engagement and driving initiatives that align with Delphi’s vision for the future, which she has developed through her 16 years of experience at the Carroll County Chamber of Commerce where she served as the Executive Director since 2011.

In her new role, Leahy will lead efforts to support Delphi Main Street, community and economic development and marketing while also strengthening partnerships that will benefit all residents of Delphi. Leahy was noted for her leadership qualities, which Yates commented will be instrumental in advancing key projects and ensuring that the city continues to be a vibrant place to live, work and play.

Leahy was noted for her instrumental role in supporting small businesses, entrepreneurs and non-profit organizations with numerous events and programs that have thrived under her leadership, including BizExcel, Indiana Bacon Festival, tourism marketing grants and more. Leahy was also noted as being pivotal in forming the new Convention, Visitors and Tourism Commission that oversees the Carroll County innkeeper’s tax.

Leahy began her work with the Carroll County Chamber of Commerce as the Executive Director on March 3, 2011, less than three years after joining the Chamber as the administrative assistant in July 2008. Leahy stated that she sought to become involved with the Chamber in 2008 to learn more about the community after working outside of the county for several years where she worked at the Pharos-Tribune in Logansport and owned and operated a consulting business.

Leahy’s drive to learn more about the community was seeded in her roots as she stands as a 1987 graduate of Delphi Community High School and was a 2010 graduate of Leadership Carroll County. Leahy has now served as one of the co-founders of Leadership Carroll County since 2022.

“With Leahy’s expertise and passion, I am confident she will help us build a stronger, more connected Delphi,” Yates said. “We are excited to have her on board as we work together to create new opportunities for our city.”

Leahy is set to begin her new role with the City on Feb. 3.

Information regarding the new Chamber Executive Director will be released as it becomes available.
