The Frankfort Board of Works have given the go-ahead for a pair both the housing and parking studies they have been wanting to do for some time Monday night.
“We did approve through Envoy to have a housing study along with a parking study,” said Frankfort Mayor Judy Sheets. “We did get a grant from Community Foundation for $20,000 for the housing study. We’re also going to add a parking study.”
Sheets said the studies would take between two to two-and-a-half months to complete.
In the City Council portion of the meeting, an additional appropriation was passed to help the fire department with a slight alteration by Councilwoman Megan Sheets.
“What she (Sheets) said was that there was some extra money put in the budget this year in the personal services for the fire department and that they would like them to use that money first before we do an additional appropriation to fulfill our salary obligation to the firefighter and to the maintenance man.”
The Council also agreed to be part of the project with the county involving the Kelly Road Bridge.
“As you know, it’s on down the road,” said Sheets. “We have to look forward to the future and the safety of our citizens. I think it’s important to have that pedestrian bridge put there.”
