City of Frankfort Street Department Working on Alleys

Information Provided by the Frankfort Street Department

The rain may slow down the City of Frankfort Street Department when it comes to working on the alleys, but the heat will not. Due to the rainy weather and the training of younger operators, the schedule is little behind; However, they have officially began alley work today. Crews began working on the alleys along Hoke Avenue this morning and will continue throughout the afternoon. This will be a multi-step process for each alley before it is considered completed.
First, a truck with a spiked grader will go down each alley and grade deep below the ruts and potholes. This is to ensure that all of the ruts and potholes are minimalized. Then, another tractor will grade and level the remaining stone from edge to edge followed by a roller truck that will flatten out the stone. The alleys will then be allowed time to settle before the Street Department comes back through with additional stone to fix the approach ways or any low spots.
The Frankfort Street Department also wants to thank the residents of Frankfort for their patience and understanding and to let them know that they have not given up on any of the alley work. Alleys will continue be the main focus for the Street Department during the summer months and they will be addressing every alley in Frankfort.
