Clinton County Community Foundation officials have jump-started the City of Frankfort’s pool renovation fundraising efforts with their announcement of a $250,000 matching grant.
Parks Superintendent Travis Sheets hopes this gift will open the doors to more donors who will recognize the benefit these pool renovations provide to Frankfort adding, “Aquatic centers are some of the most versatile options for a diverse community. These centers create a sense of place, offer health and wellness opportunities, and have a positive impact on the economy.”
Community Foundation President Greg Aaron announced the Foundation’s financial commitment to the pool renovation project saying, “Our Service Committee members are excited to support the aquatic center for residents and visitors. It is important for Clinton County to have amenities that offer a wide variety of activities. Many special memories will be created as families use the pool for recreational fun. We thank our donors for giving through the Foundation and enabling us to help fund this renovation.”
In accepting the Foundation’s generous gift, Mayor Chris McBarnes expressed the City’s gratitude saying, “We are grateful to the Clinton County Community Foundation for its partnership and belief in our need for recreational amenities through projects such as the T.P.A. pool renovation,” McBarnes said. “These pool renovations, made possible through public and private investments, will increase the quality of life and health for residents of Frankfort and will make our city more appealing to professionals and young families interested in living here.”
The Parks Department continues to pursue private donations to match the grant provided by the Clinton County Community Foundation. The updated pool will include new features including multiple slides, a lazy river, and a new concession building. Renovations are expected to start in 2020 and be completed by the spring of 2021.
