City Requiring Employees to Wear Face Masks

Following the face covering requirement announced by Governor Holcomb, City of Frankfort employees will begin wearing face masks or face covering. This requirement will begin on Monday, July 27, and continue through Wednesday, August 26, unless extended by Governor Holcomb.

Public visitors to any city-owned facilities are required to wear masks or face coverings and are encouraged to make appointments before visiting any city office. Persons with health conditions that prevent them from wearing a mask should contact the city in advance so accommodations can be made.

Mayor Judy Sheets hopes residents will act responsibly, saying, “This is about slowing and preventing the spread of Covid-19 in our community. We all have a duty to protect one another. Wearing masks is an easy way to show care for our family, friends, and neighbors.”

Masks will be required at the following locations:

  • Old Stoney
  • Frankfort Police Department
  • Frankfort Street Department
  • T.P.A. Aviary & Petting Zoo
  • Neighborhood Center
  • Park Shelters

Where masks are NOT required (but social distancing still applies)

  • Children under 2 years old should not wear masks. Masks are optional but encouraged for children ages 3-7
  • Parks and outdoor spaces including playground equipment, tennis courts and ball diamonds
  • For city employees: anywhere outdoors when social distancing can be applied or when driving alone in a city vehicle.

Sanitation stations are in place at all city buildings. Visitors are asked to use hand sanitizer when entering or exiting city buildings and offices.
