
“We want to stay aggressive with this project,” said McBarnes. “But for now, we’re going to hit the pause button in terms of actually voting on a contract to move forward with a $7.2 million project in that specific location. We’re going to look at the current location where the police station is at and several other locations as well in the community and get the citizens involved.”
McBarnes added the city knows the building is outdated, not secure and doesn’t give the department a 21st century police station that is needed.
McBarnes said he would like to have a firm selected for a second opinion by January.
