Tomorrow, December 18, recycling will be collected in the southwest quadrant of the City. This will be the last collection date this year for curbside recycling collection, and the last time that recycling collection will be limited by city quadrant. No recycling will be collected on December 25 or January 1.
Street Department crews will resume citywide curbside recycling collection on Wednesday, January 8 with one minor change. While residents can still set out plastic, paper, cardboard, and aluminum, no glass will be collected curbside.
Street Department Superintendent Jason Forsythe thanks residents for their patience throughout the changes in recycling collection, saying, “We are grateful to have such a strong partnership with Werner & Son, and we look forward to resuming weekly citywide recycling with them in 2020.”
Frankfort Street Department will continue to collect recycling, including glass, at their Burlington Avenue location. Residents can drop off recycling weekdays between 7 a.m. and 4 p.m. as well as the first and third Saturdays of each month from 8 a.m. to noon.
With Christmas Eve, Tuesday, December 24, being a City holiday, there will be no trash collection. Street Department crews will do a double pick up Monday, December 23, for residents in both the southwest and northwest sections of the City.
Since December 23 is a double collection day, trash routes will change with trash picked up earlier than what it might normally be for some households. To ensure everyone’s trash is collected, residents should have it set out by 7:00 a.m. Monday.
