Clinton Central’s annual Holiday Tourney turned 65 this week and has seen many changes. In 1960 there were four teams. Then in 2022 it changed to eight teams. This year the format went back to four teams, They were Clinton Central, Carroll, Kokomo Homeschool, and Tipton. Clinton Prairie was to be in the tournament but opted out. So Kokomo came to Michigantown for the first time.
Clinton Central also held annual Cheer Clinic for the littles which was a success a lot of fun was had.
Game 1 Tipton over Kokomo Homeschool 79-50
Game 2 Carroll over Clinton Central 58-45
Game 3 Kokomo Homeschool over Clinton Central 76-37
Championship Game Tipton over Carroll 49-46
Local Clinton County resident Denny Shoup played in the very first Clinton Central Holiday Tourney in 1960 and his grandson Jackson Shoup is on Clinton Central’s JV team as a Freshman. Denny Shoup is in the Bulldog fans bleachers every game and has been for many years.
Championship game Tipton over Carroll was a very close and good game.
Top scorers for Tipton were Grady Carpenter 34 points and Sam Quigley adding 10 points.
Carroll scoring Aidon Duff 15 points, Coy Lytle 12, Eli Falkenberg 10, Carson Hale 5, and Cayson Fellows adding 4.
