The Clinton County Area Board of Zoning Appeals (BZA) will meet Tuesday, Feb. 24, 2026, at 6 p.m. in the Clinton County Annex Building County Meeting Room, located at 2 E. Washington Street, Suite 105, in Frankfort.
During the meeting, the board will conduct a public hearing on three zoning-related applications involving variance and special exception requests in agricultural zoning districts.
The first hearing, Application #CC-2026-00049 (Docket #03-26-VA), involves a petition from James R. Weber of 5536 S. County Road 1000 E, Kirklin. Weber is requesting a variance to construct a new pole barn that would be located 24 feet from the road right-of-way along S. County Road 1000 E. The property is zoned A-1 Agricultural and is located in Kirklin Township between E. County Road 500 S and E. County Road 600 S.
The board will also consider a filing waiver deadline related to two additional applications: Application #CC-2026-00055 (Docket #04-26-SE) and Application #CC-2026-00056 (Docket #05-26-VA).
Application #CC-2026-00055 is a petition filed by Michael Sarris on behalf of Vertical Bridge, based in Cleveland, Ohio. The request seeks a special exception to allow construction of a new permanent communication tower, classified as Use 13.05 under Table A, in an A-1 Agricultural Zoning District. The proposed site is located on the east side of N. County Road 580 W, between W. County Road 0NS and W. Mulberry Jefferson Road, in Washington Township, within the 5400 block of N. County Road 580 W.
Application #CC-2026-00056, also submitted by Sarris on behalf of Vertical Bridge, requests a variance to allow the communication tower to be constructed as a lattice self-supporting design rather than the monopole design required by ordinance. The proposed location is the same Washington Township site identified in the special exception request.
Additional agenda items include approval of minutes, old and new business, and the announcement of the board’s next meeting, scheduled for March 24, 2026.
The meeting is open to the public. With 48 hours’ notice, Clinton County will provide appropriate aids and services for individuals with disabilities to ensure effective participation.
The BZA chair reserves the right to limit discussion time and to terminate discussion if it becomes unproductive or inflammatory. Name-calling, profanity, and boisterous language will not be permitted. All materials submitted as evidence during the hearing will become part of the official record and will remain on file with the Area Plan Commission.
