Clinton County, Carroll County Soil And Water Conservation Districts Announce County-Wide Grants

The Clean Water Indiana grant is now active in Clinton and Carroll counties to provide financial assistance to landowners and conservation groups.

Clean Water Indiana eligible areas in Clinton County.

The Clinton County and Carroll County Soil and Water Conservation Districts have bound together to offer producers in the areas funding for cover crops, NM plans, gypsum application and no till adaptors.

The grant acts as a county-wide grant, and the districts ensured that producers will not need to worry about watershed boundaries.

Funding is limited for the grant between the two counties, and producers seeking the financial assistance are encouraged to visit the local offices to receive an application as soon as possible to heighten the likelihood that they receive the grant.

Clinton County residents may visit 860 S. Prairie Ave. in Frankfort. Carroll County residents may visit 1523 N. US NW 421 in Delphi.

According to the Indiana Department of Agriculture, the program is intended to provide local matching funds and grants for sediment and nutrient reduction projects throughout Indiana.

“CWI also contributes critical state matching funds for Indiana’s Conservation Reserve Enhancement Program, an initiative which utilizes federal funds to encourage landowners to conserve environmentally sensitive land,” the department reports. “The CWI Program has supported the Conservation Cropping Systems Initiative which focuses on management systems approach to crop production which results in improved soil and water quality as well as profitability on Indiana cropland.”
