Clinton County Central Dispatch announced that last night, Feb. 27, the department wrapped up its fourth and final Mayday training that was conducted over the last two weeks in partnership with the Frankfort Fire Department.
The training included all four shifts of Central Dispatch and all three shifts of the Frankfort Fire Department to teach about the critical component of firefighter safety to ensure that both the fire department personnel and 911 dispatchers remain well-prepared to respond effectively to life-threatening emergencies.
A Mayday situation may occur when a firefighter becomes lost, trapped, injured or in distress, requiring immediate intervention. Proper training for both the fire department and dispatchers helps to ensure that these incidents are handled swiftly and efficiently.
By integrating Mayday training between fire departments and dispatch centers, agencies aim to improve interdepartmental coordination, reduce response times and increase overall firefighter safety. Regular drills and simulations ensure that all personnel are confident and capable in handling these stressful situations, ultimately leading to more effective emergency response and saving lives.
