The Clinton County Community Foundation has awarded more than $308,900 in competitive grants during the first half of 2019.
“These grants are awarded from our unrestricted community endowment funds,” said Bob Thorley, chairman of the Clinton County Community Foundation Services Committee. “Unrestricted funds provide the best way to connect people and resources to causes of Clinton County nonprofit organizations to allow current needs to be addressed and to consider future needs that cannot be anticipated. To strengthen our unrestricted grantmaking ability, the Foundation is partnering with Lilly Endowment’s Giving Indiana Funds for Tomorrow program to offer a match initiative. For every $1 given to an unrestricted community endowment fund, the match will be $2 – this triples your giving. Clinton County qualifies for a $500,000 match.”
The following agencies and programs were awarded grants during the first half of 2019:
- $250,000 to the City of Frankfort provides matching support for the TPA Park Aquatic Center. The grant will be used for renovations to the aquatic center that includes ADA accessibility, multiple slides, a lazy river and a new concession building. The new center will create a sense of place, offer health and wellness opportunities, and have a positive impact on the Frankfort community.
- $2,764 to the Clinton County Boys & Girls Club provides support for the Teen Center project in the Frankfort building. The center will include furniture, technology, TVs and gaming stations.
- $12,000 to the Clinton County Fair Council and Clinton County 4-H Advisory Council will be used to purchase 80 new pens with spring loaded latch bow gates for the Fair’s Goat Program.
- $12,000 to Healthy Communities of Clinton County is for the Sources of Strength program. HCCC has a youth leadership program called Youth RISE, which focuses on teen health. Youth RISE is comprised of students from the four county schools, where the students lead initiatives. They plan to build awareness around mental health through the Sources of Strength program that is a youth suicide prevention program and mental health project designed to change unhealthy habits.
- $2,500 to the Humane Society of Clinton County provides support for the purchase of security cameras for the building and grounds. The security cameras will be used to protect staff and visitors, record activities, and prevent theft.
- $4,942 to the Clinton County Adult Education/Lafayette Adult Resource Academy provides partial support to improve educational service abilities and increase visibility in the community.
- $18,500 to On-Stage Foundation for the Red Barn Summer Theatre will be used to prepare for the future and improve the sound system. Funds will be used to implement a strategic plan, upgrade the sound equipment and complete building renovations.
- $2,750 to the Paul Phillippe Resource Center will be used to upgrade the phone system that supports the Senior Center and public transportation dispatching.
- $1,500 to the Tippecanoe Arts Federation provides support for a regional public art project where a piece of public art will be developed, completed and installed in every county included in the Wabash Heartland Innovation Network (WHIN) footprint. This grant provides funding for the mural in Clinton County.
- $2,000 to the United Way for Clinton County will be used to plan and conduct board training for Clinton County nonprofits. Grant funds will be used to cover the costs of the facilitator, materials, venue and meals. Topics will include board governance, legal responsibilities, roles, strategic thinking and strategy.
