The Clinton County Community Foundation has awarded $65,677 in competitive grants and $38,990 in rapid response grants in 2020.
“In addition to our traditional competitive grants, we developed a rapid response grant application for community needs related to COVID-19,” said Bob Thorley, Chairman of the Clinton County Community Foundation Services Committee. “This allows the Foundation to respond faster to immediate pandemic-related needs outside of our regular grant cycles.”
The following nonprofit agencies and programs were awarded competitive grants from community endowment unrestricted funds:
- $4,418 to the Colfax Historical Society will be used to install flooring in a donated building that will serve as a larger, more welcoming venue to view the community’s history. It will also be accessible to Clinton County residents for events.
- $20,449 to the Crossing of Clinton County will provide support for the “Job Training Certification” program that entails creating MSSC (Manufacturing Skills Standards Council) Certification in Manufacturing & Logistics and Advanced Manufacturing as a part of the student curriculum. The MSSC skills will translate into stable, sustainable and well-paying job opportunities.
- $12,000 to Heartford House provides funding for “Quinton’s House iRecord System” project. Quinton’s House is used for forensic interviews of children who have suffered abuse. The new digital system will allow interviews to be recorded without interruption and need for repetition.
- $810 to Rossville School Corporation will provide funding support for the “Why to Say NO” program and will purchase the equipment needed to administer student drug tests. This will be one of the methods used to encourage students to refrain from using drugs.
- $28,000 to WeCare of Clinton County will be used to purchase a van to transport the recovery home residents to and from their jobs, doctor appointments, court appearances, grocery runs and other events. The home supports women in recovery through multimodal treatment.
