The City of Frankfort is proud to announce the return of the Hometown Heroes program, honoring local veterans at Veterans Park during Veterans Day week in November 2025. Custom signs featuring veterans’ names, military pictures, branch of service, and years served will be displayed at Veterans Park and showcased during the Veterans Day Program on Tuesday, November 11, 2025.
“We are incredibly proud to bring back the Hometown Heroes program, which has resonated so deeply within our community,” says Kimberly Black, Community Development & Engagement Director for the City of Frankfort. “Our vision is to expand this heartfelt tribute each year, transforming Veterans Park into a living memorial honoring the profound dedication of our local heroes.” Mayor Judy Sheets adds, “The sacrifices made by our veterans for our community and nation are immeasurable. This program is a profound expression of our unwavering gratitude, and we wholeheartedly encourage everyone to participate in recognizing these remarkable individuals.”
Veterans or family members can submit information for the signs by emailing Kimberly Black at kblack@frankfort-in.gov or dropping off the Veteran Form to the Community Development Office inside Old Stoney (301 East Clinton Street, Frankfort, IN). The deadline for submissions to guarantee a sign by Veteran’s Day is Friday, October 17, 2025. Payment is required at the time of submission. The City of Frankfort accepts cash or checks made payable to “City of Frankfort”.
Veterans or families of Veterans who have participated and taken their signs home can bring their signs back to Veterans Park starting Tuesday, November 4, 2025. Signs that were picked up and stored at Old Stoney will be displayed at the park.
