Clinton County Property Taxes Are Due Nov. 13

The Clinton County government issued a reminder for Clinton County residences that fall property tax payments are due in 14 days on Nov. 13 this year.

Payments may be made to the Clinton County Treasurer’s Office at 220 Courthouse Square in Frankfort. The payments must be stamped and include a self-addressed envelope. The Treasurer’s Office will return a receipt upon receipt of the payment. Envelopes must be postmarked on or before Nov. 13 to avoid late penalties. Payments may also be placed in the dropbox located on the north side of the courthouse building. The Treasurer’s Office requested dropbox payments to be checks only.

Payments may be made online at clintonco.com by clicking the Pay My Taxes Online tab where credit cards, debit cards and e-checks may be utilized. For online payments, a 2.5% charge for credit and debit card transactions will be applied and a $1 fee will be applied for e-checks.

Payments by check or cash may be made at any First Financial Bank branch during normal business hours from Oct. 9 through Nov. 13 for the fall payment. All payments must match the tax coupon amount exactly, and all payments require the tax coupon to be present.

In-person payments will be accepted at the Clinton County Courthouse Treasurer’s Office on the second floor of the courthouse on Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Tax bills were mailed by April 15 this year and included the May and November taxes due for every residence. A second mailing of the tax bills was not done for the November installment.

If payments are not received on or before Nov. 13, a 10% penalty will be applied on Nov. 14. If previous taxes are current but payment is not received on or before Nov. 13, the first 30 days will only incur a 5% penalty, but the penalty will revert to the 10% penalty after 31 days. A 10% penalty will be added to any unpaid taxes or assessments at each additional installment date.

The Treasurer’s Office may accept partial payments for taxes at any time, but partial payments will not relieve the payee of late penalties, extra fees or property being subject to tax sale once the installment date occurs.
